To our valued EP Physie members,
In what has been a year of challenges and changes, we would like to thank you for maintaining your constant support of your teachers, clubs and School. We understand that Zoom classes, outdoor classes and other changes have made continuing with Physie difficult at times, but hope that Physie has also given you a constant in a year of uncertainty.
No doubt the question in everyone’s mind is “Will we have competitions”? We are pleased to let you know that, yes, competitions will still go ahead while ever Government regulations permit us to do so.
However, in this year of many changes, there will also be changes to our dates and venues, and to the way we run our competitions. All of these will be implemented to keep you safe and to comply with current restrictions.
Dates, times and venues of competitions will be advised to you once confirmed. As you would understand, it has been extremely difficult sourcing appropriate venues for our competitions this year. We have had to adjust our dates and also trial some new venues.
We would like to bring you up to date with some of the major changes that will be in place for 2020:
Grand Final - We are bitterly disappointed to advise that our Grand Final cannot be held at the Sydney Town Hall this year. As well as a prohibitive cap on audience numbers, we are not permitted to use the stage, or hold any performances. Unfortunately this means there is no way we can hold our competition there. But Grand will go ahead - the Quay Centre at Olympic Park, which has the capacity to hold the number of people we need.
Audience numbers will be limited in order to comply with venue restrictions. For Sydney Zone competitions, this will mean one audience member per competitor, (Some arrangements will be made for parents with two daughters competing on the same day - this will be advised). North Coast Zone will be a little different, and will be confirmed.
Pre-booked entry for audience members will apply. This will enable us to monitor our numbers and to plan each competition day safely.
Changes to competition protocol will be introduced, such as disposable numbers, seated distancing, QR code registration. These measures will safeguard your health and wellbeing as well as that of our teachers, and ensure that we comply with necessary regulations.
State Finals will still be held at Hurstville. There will be streamlined entry and exit formats, revised competition schedules and again, limitations on audience members. We are optimistic that we can allow two audience members per competitor, but this will be formalised closer to the date.
Open Advanced Ladies will not compete at State this year - we simply will not be able to accommodate this section due to extra cleaning and audience movement from junior sections. We will select 24 Grand Finalists directly from Open Advanced Ladies day for 2020 only.
